Visit Victoria Falls
You can witness the falls from either side (as it falls on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe), but most seasoned Victoria Falls travelers prefer the Zimbabwe side, as it’s more beautiful, and because you can see the “Devils Cataract” and another popular part called Rainbow Falls”. Perhaps the most refreshing and inspiring site is the massive tower of spray from the falls which can be seen from over 10 miles (20km) away.
Not only will you have the pleasure of viewing the breath taking falls, but there are other great things to do at Victoria Falls, like taking a safari. There are tons of different safaris that you can sign up for, and depending on what kind of animals you prefer to see, you may stay in either Zimbabwe or Zambia, or if you’re more of the adventurous type, you may choose to travel up the river towards Botswana to see the large game. Whitewater rafting is always a fun adventure that is readily available, as well as bungee jumping and other extreme sport like activities.

Over the years, tourism has unfortunately declined due to safety concerns and the overall volatile nature of the region, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t safe places to go. There are still many safe hotels and spots that you can stay in, especially if you head to Livingstone, which is within walking distance of the Falls. Just don’t get caught up in any scams on the black market while you’re there, because the region is full of them. Just stick to the fun stuff like fishing, kayaking, rafting, viewing of the scenery, and horseback riding, and you’ll have an absolute fantastic time.
One special vantage point that you should get a look from is across the Knife Edge bridge, where you can have the finest view of the Eastern Cataract and the Main Falls as well as the Boiling Pot where the river turns and heads down the Batoka Gorge. Also, stop by Lookout Tree which gives you a gorgeous panoramic view across the main Falls.
Victoria Falls is one of those destinations that you’ll likely never forget, and it will surely create a lifetime of memories to share. Make sure to bring plenty of film for your camera, or if you use a digital camera, make sure and bring extra batteries just in case, because chances are, you’ll need them – especially when you see the surrounding mystical rainforests. Victoria Falls is perhaps one of the most beautiful places on this entire Earth, and it’s something that everyone should get to see at least once.
