Island House
On the island of Grand Turk, in the Turks and Caicos chain, there are quite a few reputable accommodations. One of the less traditional places to stay is the Island House, a small Mediterranean style inn containing eight studio and one bedroom suites. These suites have kitchens and are air conditioned, and they are quite affordable, with rates starting at $240 for two nights. Interestingly, the Island House provides you with a truck or car to get around the island, and they will provide round trip airport transportation-if your stay is over 4 nights. Located right next to North Creek, this inn is quite a cozy place to visit- if that’s what you’re looking for. The fact that there are only eight rooms to look after means that your needs will be promptly attended to. The rooms are quite large for the money, some having large decks with protection from the sun, and quite spacious living and dining areas.
Osprey Beach Hotel
Another very agreeable hotel is the Osprey Beach Hotel. Like the Island House, the Osprey Beach Hotel has a small number of rooms and consequently, the experience is much more personal and service better than a huge commercial complex. The hotel has twenty seven rooms facing the North Atlantic, and the larger suites here are quite amazing, with tile floors, working kitchens, modern furniture, and huge king beds. The pool area is beautiful, with a wonderfully shaded lounging area looking out over the ocean. The hotel has two main dining areas: Michael’s Atrium Restaurant and the Birdcage Bar and Restaurant. Both are open air dining experiences and can provide you with all three meals, so you never have to leave the hotel. The Osprey Beach Hotel now has atrium facing rooms, which cost a bit less than the ocean facing rooms. The balcony and courtyard atrium rooms could be almost $200 less -at a rate of $196-215 for 3 nights- compared to $295-$350 in the ocean facing rooms.
Arches of Grand Turk
A more modern establishment on Grand Turk is the Arches of Grand Turk. The Arches are a group of four very large townhouses located on Grand Turk’s North Ridge. Each townhouse has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 4 balconies. For the amount of room these townhouses provide, they are quite affordable. You can fit up to six guests in one townhouse for $2,260 dollars for the week, or just visit as a couple, and only pay $1,420 for the week. Cost per night is $210 per night for two people, and $330 for six people-quite affordable for all the space, and a full kitchen. Only having four townhouses in the complex will obviously make for much better service than a larger hotel.
Grand Turk Inn
Another very private establishment on the island is the Grand Turk Inn: a small, surreal Inn composed of only five suites and right on the Atlantic Ocean. All suites have a full kitchen if you want to do your own cooking, or have somewhere comfortable to eat purchased food. Fishing on the island is very good and you can prepare some amazing catches right in your own room. This can really cut down on your food bill as food is very expensive on this island, because it is so far away from the mainland. The Grand Turk Inn is extremely affordable at only $250 per night in the summer and $300 per night in the winter (peak season). This Inn is a large white house with a robust white fence around its entire perimeter; it is truly a tropical palace. The white sand beach is right in front on the Inn, and there is an amazing sundeck to take advantage of that looks out over the top of palm trees into a blue ocean kaleidoscope.
